Ella Burke is an Australian artist born and raised in the Central West region NSW. Moving to Darlinghust, Sydney to study a Bachelor of Fine Arts at The National Art School Ella is now near the completion of her degree.
After graduation she will continue her multidisciplinary practice in Sydney.
Ella Burke's practice involves installation, sculpture, readymade and painting.
Investigating misremembered details of childhood and how the past affects our present, she explores her personal experience as well as popular media made for children in the early 2000’s including books, shows or iconic characters such as Miffy. Using found objects, children's toys, and homewares she manipulates them through different mediums that engage more than one sensory, such as, fur (touch), light (sight), and soap (smell). Turning everyday domestic items into something dissimilar, the practical “playful”.
